The National Ledger. David talks about promoting math:
IT ALL ADDS UP:
David Krumholtz has come a long, long way from being a math-phobic student years ago -- to his current station, playing the numbers genius on CBS's "Numb3ers." "I'm actually quite fascinated and enlightened," says the actor, who plays academic-turned-FBI man Charlie, who works with his brother (Rob Morrow) on the series. Krumholtz is not the only one upon whom the show has had a positive effect when it comes to the M-word. "Last year in the middle of our season, right around when we became a bona fide hit, we were invited to a West Coast convention of math teachers in Anaheim (Calif.). They sold 600 tickets to a screening of an upcoming episode, but 1,200 people showed up. It became a security issue -- all these Mrs. Crabapples," he recounts, clearly tickled. "Then, one after the other, God bless them, they got up and talked about the show. One said she had a student who was a juvenile delinquent wouldn't do anything until he got involved with math, and he got involved with math because of the show. It's a tool for them. Then they demanded -- demanded -- we send them posters. We're math publicists."

We're legit Yes, David has done it - he's finally mentioned us SDKGs in the real press. The article is here, but you have to sign up free to read it. Here's the portion on David (the article is about "show killers"):
On the side of the angels is a man like David Krumholtz, whose killing streak dates back to his childhood, when he played Henry Winkler's youngest son on the short-lived "Monty." In the decade since, Krumholtz has killed both solo and in tandem with other serial offenders. He co-starred with Cryer on "Trouble with Normal," and with Marshall on "Chicago Sons."
But all of a sudden, Krumholtz is a star, playing the math genius hero of CBS' "Numb3rs." Popularity and secure employment are such novelties to him that he's spending a lot of time surfing "Numb3rs" fan sites and message boards to figure out what it is that makes this show live where so many others died.
And as best as he can figure, the only difference is his hair.
On all his previous series, Krumholtz was relatively clean-cut. On "Numb3rs," his mop is long and wild.
"On Numb3rs.org, there's a 'Slobbering David Krumholtz Groupies' section," he says, then pauses, embarrassed to admit this knowledge. "Why I even know about this is only because it's so strange, and it's my first time that that's ever happened. But if you go on that section, really all they talk about is my hair. I think they've actually threatened that if I cut my hair, that they'll do something harmful to themselves."
Pshaw! We don't only talk about his hair. We talk about his eyes, his nose, his mouth, his arms, his neck, his smile, his shoes...
New Film Role. David will be in the formerly "huh?" Tenacious D project, titled Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny. He plays Frat Boy #2. Heh. Here's a link to the Official Site.

Oh, David, you card. These thumbnails are pretty darn funny. More 40 Year-Old Virgin premiere shots there, too. Can't see the big pictures without an account.
August 12, 2005
The 40-Year-Old Virgin premiere. Both David and Rob Morrow went to the LA premiere of The 40-Year-Old Virgin (which I simply must go see). Hence, photos are everywhere. They're at Wireimage, Getty Images (click on "Editorial" and search for David), Fotobanka, and ABACA (last one on the 3rd page).
Premiere Date for Numb3rs. It's September 23rd - everybody mark your calendars. David trimmed his hair (don't worry - it's still longer), Charlie got a new office, Larry did too, the Eppes house has been expanded a bit and the first episode filmed is going to kick ass. PS: There are tons of pictures posted by Nick Falacci up on Numb3rs.org. Check out the Newbie Information thread at the top of the Numb3rs Lounge for a list of photos. Photos are to stay on Numb3rs.org only (no posting elsewhere).

Season 2 of Numb3rs Begins Filming. I couldn't get this tidbit up earlier because I was away, but the cast and crew of Numb3rs started filming season two on Monday, July 25th. Yay! David has now officially begun filming his first 14th episode of a series. And what a great series it is. If you're keen to see Professor Charles Eppes in action for the new season, head here for a kick-butt photo taken by Nick Falacci, executive producer of the show. There are strict rules regarding Nick's photos. We aren't allowed to post them anywhere on the Internet, aren't allowed to make graphics out of the photos, and aren't allowed to distribute them. BUt you may save the lovely photo to your computer if you like, print it out and stare at it all you want.
Max & Grace. Just a tip for you - the Max & Grace website has tons of photos from the Seattle International Film Festival and the South by Southwest Film Festival, both of which David attended. Head to the photos section of the website.

Nantucket Film Festival, Massachusetts. Here's a report from IndieWire:
The [Nantucket Film Festival's] staged reading Ben Stiller will direct this year. The film, "Spectacle: Part One of the Mark Rosen Chronicles," from a script by Stacey Weiss and Dan Chariton and produced by Stiller's Red Hour Films. It will feature Stiller along with actors Macaulay Culkin, David Krumholtz, Robert Sean Leonard, John Slattery, Michael Boatman, Heather Burns. The stage reading will take place on June 17 at 8:00pm at the Nantucket Comm. Tickets may still be available for the individual event at $25 a piece. The Festival Box Office number is 877-NFF-TIXX. Visit the festival's website for more information.

Max & Grace Review. M. Marchand attended the Seattle International Film Festival's screening of Max & Grace (website), and reviewed the film. You can read her thoughts here.
E.R. Rerun. David's third and final episode of E.R., "Beyond Repair," airs on Thursday, June 23 on TNT at 10am Eastern/Pacific. He reprised his role as schizophrenic Paul Sobriki. Sobriki comes face to face with Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle), who he stabbed two years earlier. Check your local listings to make sure of the time. Thanks Pangea!
The Last Hold-Outs. I was looking around for more information about David's film The Last Hold-Outs, which was written by, directed by and also stars Edward Burns. Came across this review from Orlando City Beat after the film was screened at the Florida Film Festival in April. Here's a snippet:
The real surprise here in Krumholtz. He's on CBS's Numb3rs right now, playing a math genius and a mensch. Abe is none of that. He's a motor mouth and a little dim, the kind of guy who's a coach because high-school baseball is his life's highpoint. It's a cartoony performance, but you'll be rooting for this lonely, goony guy.
The reviewer thought David's performance was one of the highlights of the film. The film didn't get the best review in the world, but I've heard enough about the story and good things from a non-critic who has seen it to know that I'll probably like it (I generally like Ed Burns films). Here's hoping The Last Hold-Out gets screened more across the country. So far, it's only had two screenings (Tribeca last year, and at FFF).

New sets for NUMB3Rs. Looks like NUMB3RS will be getting a slightly new feel on a familiar look next season. The show is building new sets and creating permanent offices for the characters of Charlie and Larry. Cheryl Heuton (co-creator, co-exec producer) says that David is very involved in how Charlie's office will look and what will be in it. For more set design tidbits, head to this thread on Numb3rs.org.

SAG Q & A Reports. NUMB3RS fans' LeWombat, aurora1 and kalena henden were lucky enough to attend a special Screen Actor's Guild Question & Answer event with David and Rob Morrow. SAG screened the NUMB3RS' episode "Uncertainty Principle" and then David and Rob answered questions for about an hour. Instead of me trying to recap what happened, I'll let the people that were there tell you. Head here and peruse the reports from the fans as well as Nick Falacci (mkword) and Cheryl Heuton (CHeuton) (the creators, who were also there).
Sounds like there were some very interesting questions and insightful answers. I specifically enjoyed hearing about how much David loves this show and where it's taking him - being a leading man is new to him, so I can imagine how exciting it must be. As for all the talk of jeans and hair - what can I say? We know what's important, don't we? And the moment David ever gets on that new computer of his and accidentally finds his way here... well...
I deny everything.

There are three small mentions of Numb3rs in this week's Entertainment Weekly (the one with Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie on the cover). First is on p. 14 (TV's Winners and Losers), the next is on p. 26 (David's take on "swag," which includes a small photo of him at the Tavern on the Green upfront party), and the last is on p. 79 (What to Watch - very funny, also about David).
Tonight CBS is repeating Numb3rs' episode "Vector" at 10pm.
You may want to check out WireImage and Getty Images for some photos of Dave at the upfront celebrations in NYC. Both require a subscription in order to view larger or un-watermarked photos.
Numb3rs is the 7th highest rated new show of the 2004-2005 season. That's an extreme accomplishment given that it airs on Friday at 10pm - one of the most difficult days and hour to get an audience.

Congrats to the entire Numb3rs gang - the show has been renewed for a full 22 episodes next season! It will stay in its current Friday 10pm time slot. Woo hoo! This means that, for the first time in his long career of failed TV shows, Dave will make a 14th episode of a series.
May 16, 2005
Thanks goes out to Cheryl Heuton (co-exec producer/writer/creator of Numb3rs) on the Numb3rs Yahoo Group for this one: If you're flying American Airlines in the month of May, David and Rob Morrow are hosting the in-flight programming from the set of Numb3rs. Hey, I'd stay awake for that.

Tonight is the season finale of Numb3rs, but the show finished filming a few weeks ago. To celebrate, David, Rob Morrow, Nick Falacci (creater/co-exec producer) and Cheryl Heuton (creater/co-exec producer) went on vacation to beautiful Maui. They had fun, they snorkled, they hiked up Haleakala, and they talked to fans via cyberspace (wasn't that nice of them to do on vacation??). A well deserved vacation after a kick-ass first season. For pictures, head to the Numb3rs.org Forums. But, girls and boys, remember the rules. You may save the pictures to your computer, print them out for personal enjoyment and use them for your computer's wallpaper, but you may not post them anywhere else on the Internet or use them in graphics. Head to the Newbie Info thread at the top of the Numb3rs Lounge for exact links to many of the pictures. The ones not linked yet you'll have to dig around for (hint: check the last 20 pages of The SDKG Thread Part III). Yes, I said last twenty pages... of 100 pages. Good luck! And don't forget to watch the season finale tonight! Special bonus: The Insider will have that behind the scenes video shot by David. See the post below for info.
May 12, 2005
It's likely that The Insider (website) featuring David's behind the scenes look at Numb3rs will air this Friday. At least, it's supposed to, but you can never tell with entertainment news programs. The Insider gave Dave a camera and he interviewed cast members, went around various sets and even talked with a visting Girl Scout Troup. It will also feature interviews with David himself. Should be fun. The Insider is syndicated, so check your local listings for time and channel.
Don't forget! Tomorrow night is also the season finale of Numb3rs - an episode entitled "Man Hunt." We'll get to see Charlie flirt and teach a class - plus Don will go all hard-core FBI on us. And there will be a reference to Monty Hall. How could you possibly miss this episode? Numb3rs airs at 10/9 central on CBS.

David posted yet another message (see below) in response to all the wonderful posts we wrote in response to his first post (okay, that was an extremely poorly worded sentence). Anyhoo, you can read the second post here. Check out the rest of the SDKG thread for the picture surprises from Numb3rs co-exec producer & creator Nick Falacci (his way of reassuring us that it was, indeed, Dave that posted (even though the poor guy lacks a computer). *Remember* If you come upon any pictures posted by Nick, please do not post them anywhere else on the internet. They are to remain on Numb3rs.org only. You may save the pictures, use them as your computer's wallpaper, or print them out for your personal enjoyment, but don't modify them in any way (like using them in avatars, banners, graphics etc.). This was Nick's special request. :)
David posted a message to his fans over at Numb3rs.org because he's just that cool. You can read it here.
